What is a car connector?

Automotive connectors are a type of component that electronic engineering technicians often come into contact with. Its function is very simple: to build a communication bridge between blocked or isolated circuits within the circuit, allowing current to flow and achieve predetermined functions, thereby connecting various devices inside the car. There are nearly a hundred types of connectors used in general cars, and there are about hundreds of connectors used in a single vehicle model. With the increasing demand for safety, environmental friendliness, comfort, and intelligence in automobiles, the application of automotive electronic products is increasing, which will lead to an increase in the number of automotive connector applications.

Car connectors have four basic structural components: 

1. Contact parts: they are the core components that complete the electrical connection function of car connectors; 

2. Shell: It is the outer cover of a car connector, which provides mechanical protection for the insulated mounting 

plate and pins inside;

 3. Insulator: Its function is to arrange the contacts according to the required position and spacing, and ensure the

 insulation performance between the contacts and between the contacts and the shell; 

4. Accessories: divided into structural accessories and installation accessories.
