Mistake-proof docking
In the process of automotive wiring harness design, there is a situation where color error proofing, shape error proofing, and size error proofing cannot be achieved. Connectors can also avoid problems such as missed insertion and wrong insertion through docking error prevention. The so-called docking error prevention is to exchange the male connector and the female connector of the butt end to realize the error prevention function, mainly in the electrical components of the non-board end, especially under the A-pillar. Error proofing needs to be considered.
Example: Two sets of instruments are connected to the body under the A-pillar of a certain model. According to the principle and layout space, two pairs of identical INLINE connectors are selected. Scheme 1 is the initial design scheme , and the two green connectors are all in the car. On the body, the two red connectors are on the instrument. Although this design can meet the requirements of the principle and space layout, but due to the adjacent position, there may be a wrong installation of the A connector on the B connector. Considering error prevention, plan 2 swaps the positions of the male connector and the female connector of group A connectors, and the spatial arrangement also meets the requirements, and plan 2 is docking error prevention.
Other error prevention
There are some other error-proofing methods for connector error-proofing in the wiring harness design stage. For example,

① Marking error prevention: Color marking or machine-printed labels are used to distinguish the connector branches that need error prevention; 

② Wrapping error prevention: some parts can use different wrapping methods for error prevention; 

③ Outlet direction: can be the same according to the situation The connectors are designed with different outlet directions;

④ Fixing type: If the branch needs to be fixed, different fixing methods can be used for different branches. The connectors of the three branches A, B, and C may be installed incorrectly, and the fixing on the A branch can be selected. The method is a round hole, the fixing method on the B branch is an oblong hole, and the fixing method on the C branch is a keyhole.
