1) Wire harness direction control

During the three-dimensional layout of the wire harness, the uncontrollability of the wire harness direction should be fully considered, and the reliability of the layout should be evaluated based on actual vehicle assembly experience. The requirements for ensuring the reliability of wire harness segment direction control are:

The distance between the wiring harness and the two fixed points should not be too large, and should be controlled at about 300mm. In harsh environments such as muddy water, the fixed distance of the cable tie should not be greater than 150mm.

When the wiring harness is arranged with a right-angle corner, both sides of the right-angle need to add fixed points. In the case of an obtuse corner, control according to the straight-line distance to avoid sharp-angle corners.

The branch point of the wire harness should be as close as possible to the fixed point of the wire harness trunk, and the distance should be within 100mm.

The buckles and cable ties used to fix the wire harness should match the sheet metal holes, the thickness of the sheet metal, and the specifications of the projection welding studs. At the same time, it is necessary to prevent the buckle from directly bearing the gravity of the wire harness.

The wiring harness should be arranged along the edge and along the groove to prevent the wiring harness from directly bearing pressure.

2) Gap control of wire harness

In order to prevent damage to the wiring harness, the wiring harness should try to avoid sharp sheet metal edges, edges of peripheral parts, and installation holes of other parts, especially the bends of the wiring harness. The main requirements for wiring harness layout gaps are:

Except for the parts that fix the wire harness, the gap between the wire harness and peripheral parts (without sharp edges) should be more than 6mm (inclusive).

When arranging the wiring harness, consider the influence of the installation of other parts on the wiring harness. For example, the fixed point of the wiring harness should ensure a clearance of more than 20mm (including) from the installation point of the interior parts (such as the door guard), and arrange it side by side with the installation point as much as possible.

When the wire harness is fixed on two components with relative movement, the length of the wire harness segment should be greater than the displacement length between the two components, with a minimum value of 25mm.

The minimum distance between the wire harness and the moving parts should be greater than 25mm, and the gap from the motion envelope should be more than 7mm (inclusive). At the minimum distance, the wire harness should not be in a free state.

For wire harnesses in the vibration area, the wire harness should be kept within 100mm of the back of the connector.

In addition to the basic physical protection mentioned above, such as the interference between the wiring harness and peripheral components, the wiring harness also needs to be protected against electrical performance, such as waterproof, dustproof, electromagnetic interference prevention, and temperature control.
