2. Self-diagnosis of open circuit and short circuit to positive pole
When the monitoring point is located at the positive pole of the monitored component, the self-diagnosis circuit of open circuit and short circuit to the positive pole is shown .
When the signal line between the sensor and the ECU, the connector plug or the sensor part itself is "open circuit", as shown , the monitoring value input to the CPU at the self-diagnosis monitoring point will always be 5V.
Some sensors (such as the throttle position sensor) need to provide power, and their power lines, signal lines and ground lines are all connected to the harness socket of the electronic control unit ECU through the harness plug or socket. When the signal line between the sensor and the ECU, the wiring harness plug or the component itself is "shorted to the positive pole", the voltage input to the CPU from the self-diagnosis monitoring point will always remain unchanged at 5V.
It can be seen that when the sensor has two types of faults of "open circuit" and "short circuit to positive pole", because the monitoring value input to the CPU at the self-diagnosis monitoring point is always 5V, it is difficult for the CPU to distinguish the fault type. Therefore, when the monitoring point is located at the positive pole of the monitored component, when one of the two faults of "open circuit" and "short circuit to positive pole" occurs, the conclusion of the CPU self-diagnosis record will be: "open circuit or short circuit to positive pole".
